Reflections....

As my summer draws to a close so does another year of my life....sigh
How's that for a dramatic opening :)

The summer has been good!
Slow start but then it picked up and overall I would give it an A

Year 43 for me has been pretty good as well...
I told Jeff on our walk last night (side note if you haven't been going out the last few nights you have been missing out on a beautiful moon!) that 43 is good holding place... I don't need to get any older...so just prepare yourselves if you ask me how old I am I will be forever more 43...

I had to share my cantaloupe...

Well actually I would have a difficult time sharing my cantaloupe since it is tiny!
I think the only award they would win at the fair would be the "cuteness" award! :)  I do have a few larger ones that are still growing...larger being a relative term...:)

Looks like I'm picking up another class at CAA this year...
God is good!

Fall?

I'm in love with fall...
I can't help it!
It's not that I don't love summer...
I do!
It's just that fall is so colorful...
So crisp!
And there are pumpkins!
Who doesn't just love Pumpkins???!!!!

I have to say that I have the BEST pumpkin crop I have ever grown!
I admit I pat them
and talk to them
and water them
and love them
I know its a problem...
I'm not sure where my love of pumpkins come from...
Don't particularly love to eat them...
Just love to see them growing and sitting on my porch as lovely fall decorations...
Oh and I love pumpkin spice in my Chi...

I also love going out the garden with a large container and gather the harvest...
Yesterday it was tomatoes
hot peppers
onions
While the tomatoes were still warm from the sun I cut them up and made salsa...
and it is gooooood! :)
Sigh....
I love this time of year...
The edges of the season...
When your not sure how many summer days are left and when the crisp fall air will show itself...

Actually being a teacher I know exactly how many summer days are left

7

In one week I will be in the classroom teaching again...
I like teaching
I like the kiddos
I wish I could teach them outside...
traveling around the world...
Anyone want to fund that project?
Seriously.... ;)

I

This is "Found"
A newly formed group this summer
Their first "gig" will be opening for Jars of Clay on Sept. 7th
It is very, very exciting for a certain guitar player I know...

We watched them at rehearsal last night and he was so relaxed
even moving with the music...
I am so very happy for him! (and the rest of the group of course!)

Tomorrow is his birthday...
Which means 15 years ago about now I was eating at a Mexican restaurant when the contractions began...

I was sad that it would no longer be Josh and I and I wondered how I would love another little guy as much as I loved the first...

:)

Turns out its not a problem...

I saw this on FB and thought it was hilarious!
And oh so true...

Have a fantastic day!

Back to Work

Time to pass through that door...
The one that leads from summer freedom to the school year...

It's been a good summer...
Slow start but finally warm summer days...
Time with family and my camera...

But, don't hate me for this...
Because I'm now back on contract and I'm forced back indoors...
I'm feeling the desire for crisp days with beautiful fall colors...
Just a nice easy transition...
A long fall would be nice...

Because friends
For me, summer is over....

Instagram

This summer I have discovered a new LOVE!

I LOVE Instagram!
I LOVE my iphones camera!
I LOVE the two of them together!

Just to be clear I am still faithful to my first love - my NIKON - However, I don't always have it with me and my phone is so convenient and unlike my other phones I actually use this camera and I LOVE the results!

The pic of Ty I'm using a teardrop feature, intentionally blurring everything but his face and hands...

I have about 5 cantaloupe in my garden! This is the biggest, isn't that so exciting!

This is a perfect example of why I love my camera both the shot of Teddy and the water tower I would not have gotten because my camera was no near me at the time. Its so cool!

Hmmm, I should probably shave... ;p
 Also growing in my garden!
I canned peaches last week! Aren't they gorgeous! I can't wait to eat them!
On Saturday Jeff and I were exploring the Washington Coast and discovered the cutest Cape Coddish town!
I took Ty out on Friday for his birthday.  He is growing up... He will be 15 on the 29th. Gone are the days of playing pin the tail on the donkey....now its boat trips and girls in bikinis....sigh....

So if you want to follow me on instagram I am Frychik :) If you don't have the app, download it its free and so fun!

The South - Conclusion

Hi Y'all!
I still get tickled listening to Southern accents...
Please believe I mean no disrespect when I say this...
but it's hard to take them seriously!
It sounds to me like someone trying to be funny and I laugh...
To be clear I'm not talking about a soft southern drawl...
I'm talking about the hard, loud, twangy, exaggerated accent...
Cracks me up every time!
Last night Jeff and I were in The Pearl District of downtown PDX eating dinner outside when a woman walked by twanging away...
Pretty sure she was from Texas though...
It was a great trip here are some more pictures...

While I'm not a fan of the actual flying...
I love the results
I also think the view is pretty cool!

I'm also becoming a little less enthusiastic about roller coasters...
Is this an age thing?
I was walking my dog yesterday morning thinking about life realizing in a couple weeks I will be 44....
Does that mean I can't consider myself in my early 40s any more
am I now in my MID40s?
UGGGGG!!!!

Darrel and Connie have the COOLEST coffee table! Normally it doesn't have any pennys on it...
Since the time Joshua was old enough to play with pennys and not swallow them...
Aunt Connie and Uncle Darrel have always had a large jar of pennys and he has always loved to play with them.  Usually making long complicated designs on the floor...
This time he did something different...
Pretty cool!
Poor Darrel and Connie have lost their clock!

Our last morning in Nashville Jeff's aunt and uncle took us out to breakfast here...
Please notice the name...
Pancake House....
They ALSO serve waffles!
And yes that is the line we waited in! It went halfway down the block!

Unlike the Waffle House where you can only have waffles! ;) But there was no waiting! Probably because people don't take long with the menu because its waffles baby!

This picture is for Connie... :)

This is a remarkable picture for the simple reason that Tyler NEVER sleeps during the day! Not since his car seat days has he fallen asleep in a car! And we have taken some LONG car trips over the years!
Josh on the other hand falls asleep when he's in the car for longer than 10 min :)

Surrender! Making Civil War history more fun :)

Musicians on the streets of Nashville...
The girl with the spoons was amazing!
Never really heard the guy with the wash basin, stick and string...
I think he was just here for looks...

Ice Cream....Lots and lots of ice cream!

Stayed up until 2 am the night before we left to finish this puzzle!

An extremely rare moment caught on camera!
A spontaneous hug from our youngest!
A sight rarely seen...
I suspect it was his belly full of pancakes that moved him to such action!

Enthusiasm waining... :) That's MLK Jrs home church in the background...

It's always good to return home...
But its wonderful to know we still have a home in Georgia anytime we want it :)
