Roosevelt

This is what we were doing last year.... We have had the opportunity to go to Lake Roosevelt with Jeff's brother and some of their friends for a week of boat camping.

It involves loading our boat with all the food, cooking, sleeping, drinking water, gas, water toys, blankets, tents, chairs, pop ups, pop tarts and S'more stuff to last a week.

As you can see our boat is pretty loaded down as we head out for our beach camping spot.

What I don't have a picture of is the process of unloading the boats and setting up camp in the blazing sun with burning sand under your feet, definitely my least favorite part of the trip. But soon enough we find our way out onto the lake...

Josh is always the first one in and up. The water is warm and we usually have the place to ourselves...

One of my very favorite parts of this week is how all the kids sleep out side on the beach. What great bonding time for the cousins!

Look at that view! That is what the lake looks like every morning!

Good morning Ty!

Some of the day is spent lounging around....

Or building and appointing yourself king of a small island nation...

But when the water is this amazing we try to spend lots of time enjoying it...

Jeff always looks so happy when he is skiing..

I love to ski but my arms and legs always give out way to soon!

And we do lots and lots of this.

This is the best part! I'm so glad the cousins have had these memories...

We are missing out this year :( With Jeff's job situation we can't take a vacation this year (no Florida does NOT count! )

Every day Ty sighs and says "I wonder what they are doing at Roosevelt today"
I consider reminding him of the negatives, the hike up "crap crest" to use the "modern luxury" an outhouse. Or the fact that the bees were ferocious last year. Or that setting up is a hot and miserable job...
But I don't. It's more fun to remember the campfires, sleeping on the beach, and hanging out with your cousins all week :)
Oh, well...maybe next year...
